ATLANTIC CITY – Parents and community members gathered at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School Complex on Thursday, December 19, 2024, for the highly anticipated Winter Festival holiday show.

The auditorium was packed with an enthusiastic audience eagerly awaiting a morning of joy, music, and festive cheer. “It was fun. The kids had a good time,” said Principal Jodi Burroughs. “They worked hard, and the parents enjoyed it.”

Fifth Grade: "To All a Merry Season"

The fifth graders were the first to take the stage, opening with "To All a Merry Season," a beautiful song that wished happiness and cheer to everyone. Singing in unison, their performance delighted the audience, who were thrilled to see their children shine. The song’s message of goodwill captured the spirit of the holiday season.

Fourth Grade: "Get Your Winter On"

Next, the fourth graders brought the house to life with their performance of "Get Your Winter On." This upbeat number was a lively celebration of winter fun, featuring the catchy lyrics: “Enjoy. Have fun. Do stuff. Get your winter on.”

Third Grade: "Jingle as We Go"

The third-graders followed with a delightful rendition of "Jingle as We Go." Their cheerful voices painted a picture of jingling bells and festive adventures, spreading joy throughout the auditorium.

Second Grade: "Cuando Brillen Las Velas"

A standout moment came when the second-graders performed "Cuando Brillen Las Velas," a touching song in Spanish that translates to "When the Candles Shine Bright." They delivered the poignant lyrics with grace, which created a somewhat reflective atmosphere.

First Grade: "Dancing Snow Dog"

The first-graders gave the show an energy boost through their whimsical performance of "Dancing Snow Dog." The playful song about a frolicking snow dog had the audience smiling and laughing. The students’ infectious enthusiasm was a true highlight.

Kindergarten: "Hurry Santa"

The grand finale belonged to the kindergartners, who sang "Hurry Santa" with excitement and wonder. Their bright eyes and eager voices captured the magic of Santa's hurried Christmas Eve journey, filling the auditorium with joy. Parents eagerly recorded the performance on their phones, cherishing the special moment.

Enchanting Transitions

Throughout the program, transitions between performances were accompanied by the soulful sounds of Samara Joy McLendon’s Christmas album. The American jazz singer’s rich, velvety voice provided a perfect festive backdrop. Other holiday classics were also mixed into the transition time.
