Atlantic City Fire Department Graduates 11 New Firefighters

In July, the Atlantic City Fire Department graduated 11 recruits from Atlantic City Fire Department after completing 12 weeks of training at the Anthony ‘Tony’ Canale Fire Training Center in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

Congratulations are in order for graduates:

  • Naquan Blakeley,
  • Matthew Branco,
  • Drew Carpenter,
  • Harlin Colon,
  • Matthew Compton,
  • Alexis Gibson,
  • Trent Manera,
  • Shane Morgan,
  • Kirsten Pruitt,
  • Patrick Ruane,
  • and Shay Steele, Jr.

The graduation was held at City Hall Council Chambers in Atlantic City with Mayor Marty Small, Sr. administering the oath of office. The ceremony included words from Mayor Small, Atlantic City Fire Chief Scott Evans and New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) State Monitor Wes Swain.  In addition to the speeches, the recruits were presented their badges, certificates and assignments.

In March, the fire department graduated 25 recruits who were among 33 Atlantic County Fire Academy graduates. As the Atlantic City Fire Department grows, these newest additions will bring the ranks up to 196. We’d like to extend our thanks and best wishes as you begin this next chapter to keep the communities of Atlantic City a safer place.
