Postcards from Pleasantville's National Night Out

PLEASANTVILLE – National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. It usually happens locally on the first Tuesday in August.

This year's event in Pleasantville drew hundreds of people from the Pleasantville area. The day started at 5 p.m. at Tilton and Langston Avenues.

People who attended were treated to hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream and cool beverages. Children got to see and pet goats, pigs and other live stock at a small petting zoo. The Pleasantville Police Department held their annual K-9 demonstration. The Fire Department took brave souls up on their extended ladder. Pleasantville Mayor Judy Ward was on hand to greet the community.
