On Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m., approximately 60 Atlantic City residents assembled into the second floor auditorium of The Carnegie (Library) Building in Atlantic City. The City of Atlantic City hosted an information session for their upcoming Small Business Academy. The people attending hope to become business owners in Atlantic City.
On this evening, Pamela Thomas-Fields, Kashawn MicKinley and Mayor Marty Small Sr. addressed the future business owners to share information and encouragement about the 8-class event labeled, The Small Business Academy. Carmen Gates of the African-American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey also attended, discussing specifics of the curriculum.
The class started on March 6 and will run until April 24. The Small Business Academy is being offered free of charge to those enrolled and will include classes on starting a business, writing a business plan, credit and how to obtain special certifications as a woman or minority small business owner.
