On January 14, 2025, the main menu got a new look where your latest saves are front and center. However, for all Sims players who use mods, beware that the custom content (CC) clothes, hairstyles, or accessories do not load on the screen. So, when you first open the game, your sims may not have clothes. On the bright side, the CC items do reload once you open your save file and play with your Sims.
In the new base game update on February 4, 2025, houses in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs will get revamps with fresh new colors and modified layouts. For our build mode simmers, there will be brand new chic, modern windows and doors that are perfectly suited for modern farmhouses. New kitchen cabinets and counters, with beautiful swatches, will also be added. Decked out pirate ships and monkey bars will be added for the children.
Let’s not forget about our Create a Sim (CAS) enjoyers now. A BUNCH of new clothes, with every piece of clothing imaginable, will be added for all different types of sims. The styles range from cool and casual wear all the way to classy suits, and dresses for sims who can’t wait to flaunt their wealth. That’s not all! There will even be more accessories including gold chains, necklaces, pearls, and so much more. Not to mention there’s also new hairstyles and clothing for toddlers.
A 25-hour stream will take place where simmers everywhere kick back, relax, and watch their favorite content creators, and view the appearance of a special guest!
For the Sims Freeplay enjoyers, realistic lighting will be added in March to make the game feel more vibrant and immersive.
All these updates are great, but some simmers, including myself, thought there would be a little bit more content. This isn’t to say that the new updates are bad. I’m actually quite excited for the additional build mode items and CAS apparel. However, for a 25th anniversary I thought there would at least be a new expansion or game pack.
Overall, I have mixed feelings about these new changes. On one hand, I’m a little annoyed that I might have to spend an excessive amount of time updating my CC so the clothes are compatible with the main menu. On the other hand, I am satisfied with all the new items coming to the game, and am fairly excited for its release.
