ATLANTIC CITY – Atlantic City and Pleasantville marked a significant milestone on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, with the grand opening of their newly merged municipal court at the Clayton G. Graham Public Safety Building in Atlantic City. This joint effort, which took effect on January 1, 2024, combined the municipal courts of both cities, aiming to improve judicial services and accessibility for residents.

Celebrating the New Atlantic City Joint Municipal Court

The merger, facilitated by collaboration between Atlantic City, Pleasantville, Superior Court Vicinage 1, and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA), has led to a fully renovated court facility. The upgrades include new furnishings, carpeting, flooring, and fresh paint throughout the lobby, hallways, break rooms, and three courtrooms. The completion of these renovations was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local officials and court staff.

The ceremony featured remarks from Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Sr., Pleasantville Mayor Judy Ward, and key judicial and administrative figures. Mayor Small highlighted the importance of partnerships in his administration, expressing pride in the new Atlantic City Joint Municipal Court and hinting at further renovations within the Public Safety Building. Mayor Ward emphasized the financial relief the merger provides for Pleasantville, acknowledging the smooth collaboration between the two cities.
