5 Reasons-I Loved The Black Health Connect, Philadelphia Networking Event!
As one of the non-health professionals in the room, I felt welcome, met great people and I believe BHC met their goals. In fact, I am planning to attend their conference in Washington DC this June.

PHILADELPHIA - The good people of www.BlackHealthConnect.com hosted an after work networking event that brought together health care professionals from all over Philadelphia, Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey.
When I saw the post for The Black Health Connect Philadelphia event, I knew I was going to attend because we at Atlantic City Focus want to share as much health information as possible and connect with the health professionals.

The Black Health Connect post stated "The purpose of Black Health Connect is to bring together minority health professionals to create a stronger network today, that will ensure a more successful future tomorrow!"

As one of the non-health professionals in the room, I felt welcome, met great people and I believe BHC met their goals. In fact, I am planning to attend their conference in Washington DC this June.
I arrived at 6 p.m. and stayed until the NOTO staff put us all out at 10 p.m.
I could have stayed until midnight.

Here are 5 Reasons I loved this networking event and will be back with friends.
- The NOTO Experience and Atmosphere
First of all. The night club is located in a well lit Center City area with reasonable street and lot parking.
Next, the building was big enough so that random people were not shouting in my face. It brought me joy to be at a networking event where I didn't have to plan to see who got up before I could sit down and I didn't have to worry about losing my seat to go to the bathroom.
Let's talk bathrooms. There are about eight single-occupant bathrooms, so there was no waiting or line.
The sound was great.
The seating was all lounge booths and very comfortable.
The NOTO staff was happily friendly, helpful and engaging.
Who ever hired the security and bar tenders truly picked winners.
I have been to many establishments that invested in creating a great atmosphere only to have the staff ruin everything. The staff at NOTO enhanced a great place to network and socialize.
- Great Music
The Club system was crisp and clear without being super loud.
DJ In Stan We Trust had the crowd head nodding and dancing at various times during the whole event. He had us singing and dancing by the time the night was done.
- Great Vendors
The good people from Breaking Barriers provide great resources for women.
These are three of The Urban League-Philadelphia's Young Professionals.
Members of The National Black MBA Association-Philadelphia Chapter.
- A Wonderful Host Dr. Duclas Charles
Thank you Doctor, for putting together such a wonderful event and bringing us all together. The incredible thing is that he had to run over to New York City for the Black Health Connect networking event the very next day.
You will be hearing more from Dr. Charles here at Atlantic City Focus as we get closer to The Black Health Connect Conference.

- The Number One Reason I Loved The BHC Networking event in Philadelphia-
THE WONDERFULLY INTERESTING, FUNNY, SMART AND FRIENDLY PEOPLE!
Networking for me is a very necessary but unnatural process. To just walk up to people whom I've never seen before, and introduce myself, and start asking questions about their job – I'm still getting used to that. Funny, enough, many of the conversations started with how tense networking functions usually are, but we all agreed that the crowd attending this evening were social. Time after time, I met people who had just connected at The BHC Networking event and were having a great time. As professional as I behaved, I did find some social buddies myself.
The fact of the matter is, I connected with people whom I may not see again until the next function, people I hope to work with, and a couple of people I hope to socialize with in the future. I met several people who have attended BHC functions on a regular basis and some who were there for the first time.
Two things we all agreed upon:
- The need for Black Health care professionals to meet is very important. Doctors, nurses, operating room staff, administrators, representatives from clinical trials, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies and more were all in the room.
- The second thing that everyone who I spoke to acknowledged, was that this event was well worth the investment of effort and time. We all learned a lot and had a wonderful evening of social interaction.
Here's a Photo Gallery that shows the great atmosphere and people who attended!
